All signals have it that there could be a possible referendum in Kenya before the 2022 elections. The “Wanjiku” of this country have been complaining daily about the high cost of living and over representation. According to the Kenyan opposition and a section of Mt Kenya leaders the only solution could be a referendum.
Recently on a TV interview, the former Kiambu governor Hon Kabogo said he will starting a national wide campaign to sensitize Kenyans on the need to change the current constitution. According to him a country with 44 million people needed 47 governors, 47 senators, 47 MP’s and 290 MCA’s. A man from Kiambu was quoted saying, ” Si Serikali ililetwa karibu na sisi, ni pesa walikuja kula karibu na sisi”
It is now evident that the deputy president is opposed to the new push by some quotas. Some of his allies have openly opposed the referendum.
