Governor Kimemia Finally Reveals Why He Has Dropped His Running Mate In Favor Of Another

As we near the August general elections, the political arena continues to fall in place. The politicians are playing their best cards to ensure a win after the election. More so, choosing the running mate is the big card many politicians are making. Governorship aspirants are seeking an influential running mate who will be able to move and persuade crowds This, guarantees an easy win. In fact some have already dropped their running mate

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia is one governor playing their cards right to ensure victory in August. In light of this, Kimemia has dropped his current running mate Engineer Joseph Mungai Mbugua in favor of Isaac Maina Gitura.

Francis Kimemia, current governor in Nyandarua county is seeking to be re-elected as the county boss again. He will be vying under the ruling party Jubilee. In a statement, Kimemia outlined the reason behind dropping Engineer Mbugua.

He said Engineer Mbugua who is the current Regional Director for the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) had not resigned.

Failed To Resign

In Kenya, any civil servant seeking to vie for a political seat should resign in their current position six months prior to the election. Therefore, it means Engineer Joseph Mungai Mbugua ought to have resigned as early as February 9, 2022.

The new nominee for Kimemia’s running mate, Isaac Gitaru is a quantity surveyor by profession. Just like the dropped running mate nominee, Gitura comes from Engineer ward, Kinangop Sub-County. More so, he is an alumnus of University of Nairobi (UoN). Here, he did his bachelor’s level pursuing a degree in Quantity Surveying.

Additionally, the current county deputy boss Cecilia Mbuthia had said because of personal reasons she wouldn’t serve as the deputy governor for another term. Apparently, this was before Kimemia had nominated Mbugua as the running mate.
